I am Jonathan Memoli, an Eagle Scout candidate
with troop 18. My Eagle Scout project is restoring the
reflecting fountain, wrecked by hurricane Charley, at
the historic Burroughs Home back to its originally
beauty and function.
My plan is to first clean out the concrete
basin. Then we will strip the loose paint and prep the
surfaces. Next is repainting (with pool paint in
white and blue) the basin. After that is done we
will install a bird bath on a 6 foot 3 inch diameter PVC
pillar in the center of the basin. Flexible tubing will
be run from the bottom to the top of the pillar. A bird
bath bowl will have a hole drilled into it and the
feeder tubing threaded through. We will then stack
natural stone around the pillar,

This is the only photo available showing the
fountain before hurricane Charley. (The water plants are
not part of the original design and will not be replaced
as they detract from the fountain.) |
