Jon Memoli's Eagle Project

I am Jonathan Memoli, an Eagle Scout candidate with troop 18. My Eagle Scout project is restoring the reflecting fountain, wrecked by hurricane Charley, at the historic Burroughs Home back to its originally beauty and function.

My plan is to first clean out the concrete basin. Then we will strip the loose paint and prep the surfaces. Next is repainting  (with pool paint in white and blue) the basin.  After that is done we will install a bird bath on a 6 foot 3 inch diameter PVC pillar in the center of the basin. Flexible tubing will be run from the bottom to the top of the pillar. A bird bath bowl will have a hole drilled into it and the feeder tubing threaded through. We will then stack natural stone around the pillar,

This is the only photo available showing the fountain before hurricane Charley. (The water plants are not part of the original design and will not be replaced as they detract from the fountain.)

cementing the stones to each other, and form a stone column about 6 feet high. The last step is replacing the old pump motor with a new one with the required capacity and strength, connecting it to electrical, water and the feeder tubing. This will produce a reflecting fountain resembling the original.

Currently I am seeking donations to help pay for materials and the pump. By clicking the donation button below and donating $1 or more you will help me to achieve my goal of Eagle Scout.

Your donations will be deeply appreciated and helpful in restoring a part of the Burroughs Home to its historic beauty and help to preserve our heritage.  A list of donors will be included in the final project write up which will be on display at my Court of Honor.

If you have any advice or questions please call me at my home phone (239-369-9034) or contact by via e-mail (jonlm@live.com).

Again any assistance and donation will be deeply appreciated.
