Heaving Knot

As it’s name implies, this knot provides weight at the end of a rope to facilitate throwing the line. Also makes a good stopper knot at the end of a rope.

  1. Form a bight (bend in the rope).
  2. Start making turns, taking the end behind the standing part and wrapping it around the bight.
  3. Make several turns.
  4. Insert the end through the loop.
  5. Pull on the standing part to tighten the knot.
